WALL HANGINGS/ CROGLUNIAU

I create wall hangings which reflect my interest in landscape history and spirituality.  I usually make a rough sketch rather than work from a detailed plan in order to achieve an organic, natural effect.  I hope that the hangings are more than pieces of needlework; I hope that they look as if they are part of the land itself.  I think that I have succeeded if people want to reach out and touch them.

Byddaf i’n creu crogluniau sydd yn adlewyrchu fy niddordeb mewn hanes ac ysbrydolrwydd tirlun.  Fel arfer, tynnaf i fraslun yn hytrach na gweithio gyda chynllun manwl er mwyn cael effaith organaidd, naturiol.  Gobeithiaf taw mwy na  chrefft nodwydd yw’r crogluniau; Gobeithiaf eu bod nhw’n edrych fel rhan o’r wlad ei hun.  Credaf fy mod i wedi bod yn llwyddiannus os bydd pobl eisiau estyn a chyffwrdd â nhw.

My wall hangings are made using a range of creative embroidery techniques.  I stitch fabrics, threads and beads onto hand-made felt and suspend found objects from invisible thread.  Luckily I live in an area where I can collect wool from hedgerows and find bits of old iron without any trouble at all.
